Week of March 18 - 22

I hope everyone had a fun weekend and that everyone is well rested and ready to go this week!  We only have two more weeks until grades close for Term 3.  Can you believe it?  We are almost 3/4 of the way done with this school year.  Time sure flies when we have lots to learn!

This week is going to be a little crazy as I will be PROCTORING MCAS and using room 245.  My C and D period classes on TUESDAY, THURSDAY and FRIDAY will be going to the IMC.  I will be leaving work for you to complete - there will be a few teachers in the IMC to take attendance and help you with your work.

BASIC ENGLISH:
This week, we will be starting another short story "The Scarlet Ibis".  I will give new vocabulary words on Monday and we will be reading the story together.  The independent work I give you for the MCAS days (in the IMC) will be centered around this story.  We will finish reading the story on Wednesday.  There are a couple more students who still need to present their time travel power points.  They will have the opportunity to do this on Monday.

BASIC ALGEBRA:
We are moving on to Section 2 of Chapter 6.  You really need to pay close attention this week as everything else from here on builds on it.  We will be learning about Equations as Relations -  solving for X or Y when given a Domain or Range (do you remember what those terms mean?), and finding the resulting Relation (set of ordered pairs).  We will practice this skill on Monday and Wednesday.  I'll be giving you a packet of notes and a HOMEWORK sheet on
Monday - Study Guide 6-2
Wednesday - Practice 6-2
On the days that you are in the IMC (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday), I will leave an independent worksheet to review previously learned concepts and skills.  These will be good practice to keep your minds fresh for the final.

STUDY SKILLS:
We will be spending a good portion of this week working on your big History essays - please, please, please do your best, focus, and work hard.  Don't "phone it in".

I'll be after school on MONDAY and FRIDAY this week for extra help.  Don't forget about the Homework Club on TUESDAY in room 218 as well as the NHS tutors after school in the cafeteria.

FINALLY -
Don't forget - PSHS FIT CLUB will meet on Tuesday and Thursday this week after school (around 2:15) in the Wrestling Gym.  Tuesday's workout is Les Mills PUMP "Step" and "Hardcore Abs", Thursday's workout is INSANITY The Asylum "Strength" (using weights and a LOT of push-ups).  Pass the word around - Fit Club is a lot of fun and a great workout too!

Have a great week everyone!
