WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 24 - 28

It's hard to believe that it's the last week of September already!  The weather is starting to get a little chilly and fall is definitely in the air.

Last week was a bit crazy:  I attended a day of training at PCIS and was not here on Monday, the Yellow and Blue Team went on trips to Camp Clark, and Wednesday was a half day.  We spent time in classes on Thursday and Friday catching up and getting ourselves back on track.

REMINDER:  Mid-Term progress reports will be compiled and entered into Aspen at the end of this week.  Progress reports will go home with students next Friday (October 5).

This week:
BASIC ENGLISH:
We will continue to work on Memoirs.  Monday we will be creating our 6 word memoirs.  Tuesday we will be working on a Study Guide for a QUIZ on WEDNESDAY.  We will spend Thursday and Friday beginning the background and vocabulary for Tuesdays With Morrie.  We will begin this book next week and doing most of the reading together in class.  Senior Mentors will be in our class on Wednesday.  Think about some questions you may have and/or things you would like to discuss with them.
Homework:
Monday and Tuesday - Study for Wednesday's Memoir Quiz

BASIC ALGEBRA:
This week, we will be working on Chapter 2.  On Monday, we will go over the Coordinate Plane and practice graphing points from ordered pairs.  On Tuesday, we will be learning about Adding Integers and on Wednesday, we will be learning about Subtracting Integers.  We will spend Thursday reviewing all of the information presented thus far in Chapter 2 (Graphing points on a number line, absolute value, integers, coordinate plane, adding and subtracting integers).
Homework:
Monday - Study Guide 2-2
Tuesday - Study Guide 2-3
Wednesday - Study Guide 2-4
Thursday - Study for Friday's Quiz

STUDY SKILLS:
Please remember to come to class prepared and ready to work throughout the period.  I expect you to work on class work in Study Skills.  Some students are telling me they would rather do work at home and then sit and do nothing during Study Skills.  This is not acceptable.  Also, if students need passes to the IMC to use the computers for lengthy written assignments or research, let me know and I will give you passes.

Have a great week!
Mrs. Francis
