Week of February 4 - 8, 2013

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  We'll be doing some fun things this week - I am excited to be here - are you??

BASIC ENGLISH:
We are finishing up watching the movie Of Mice and Men.  Hopefully we will be done by the end of class on Tuesday.  What do you think of the movie so far?  We will be going back to our Daily Language Practice worksheets.  These should only take about 5 minutes to complete, so we'll be starting class with these all week.  On Wednesday, I want to go over ORAL PRESENTATIONS with the class.  You will be presenting your Of Mice and Men WANTED posters.  By Friday, we will be starting a short story unit and learning vocabulary from Ray Bradbury's A Sound of Thunder.

BASIC ALGEBRA:
Great JOB in class on Monday everyone!!!  We reviewed the notes from Scale Drawings and Models.  Everyone seemed to understand the process.  We'll be working a little more on scale drawings and models on Tuesday in class as well as doing the "stations" that I talked about on Monday.  Wednesday, we'll be starting Section 3 of Chapter 5 - the Percent Proportion.  This is fun (I think!).  We'll have a couple days to practice this and on Friday, we'll be taking a quiz on the first 3 sections of chapter 5.
Homework This Week
Monday - Study Guide 5-2
Tuesday - Practice 5-2
Wednesday - Study Guide 5-3
Thursday - Study for Quiz on Friday

Study Skills:
This week, you will be getting the new self-evaluation tool for calculating your daily points.  I want to see how effective this will be with you.  Make sure you are bringing an agenda, your materials needed, and that you work throughout the period.  I know it's the last period and you all are a little antsy by the end of the day, but you have to try very hard to focus and get work done.

Have a  great week everyone!!
